Across Adavivaram, Mudasarlova, Tarluvada and Rambilli near Visakhapatnam, hundreds of acres of hill and forest land are being cleared for hyperscale data centers linked to Google and Adani. The Human Rights Forum found trees cleared on the Simhachalam range before Environment Clearance was even granted. The main site sits 120 metres from the Mudasarlova reservoir, a key drinking water source, inside its catchment area, and borders the Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary's Eco-Sensitive Zone.
Local content creators reporting on the clearing have had posts blocked under IT Act orders. Weekly protests have drawn no political or media response, despite petitions and formal complaints alleging clearances were rushed and misclassified to avoid stricter review.
Meanwhile, an Anakapalle MP is delivering free Kasi–Ayodhya pilgrimages, an election promise that costs no political capital — unlike defending a reservoir against a multinational and a conglomerate. Cultural goodwill is being funded; environmental accountability is being ignored.
