As a student from Maharashtra, I am deeply concerned by the reports that Sonam Wangchuk was taken to the hospital despite his reported wish to continue his peaceful protest. If this is accurate, I believe his decision and dignity should have been respected while ensuring appropriate medical care.
In my view, the government's handling of this situation is disappointing. A strong democracy listens to peaceful voices, engages in dialogue, and respects the rights of citizens to express themselves peacefully. I hope meaningful conversations begin soon.
