You can still miss up to 33 more classes out of the remaining term and stay at or above 75%.

Most schools and colleges require a minimum attendance percentage โ€” commonly 75% โ€” to be eligible to sit an exam. This calculator works out your current attendance percentage from the classes you have attended and the total classes held so far, so you always know exactly where you stand.

Enter how many classes you attended and how many were held in total, and this tool instantly shows your percentage and flags whether you are above or below the typical 75% cutoff.

Attendance % = (Classes Attended รท Total Classes Held) ร— 100

Most institutions require at least 75% to be exam-eligible, though some courses set a different threshold.

Worked example

Question: A student attended 168 out of 180 classes held so far. What is their attendance percentage?
Step 1 โ€” Divide attended by total: 168 รท 180 โ‰ˆ 0.9333
Step 2 โ€” Convert to a percentage: 0.9333 ร— 100 โ‰ˆ 93.3%
Answer: The student's attendance is about 93.3%, comfortably above the typical 75% requirement.

If you are above 75%, you can work out your safety margin: multiply your total classes held by 0.25 to see the absolute maximum you are allowed to miss for the whole term, then subtract how many you have already missed. If the number is close to zero, be careful about skipping any more.

Falling below the required attendance usually means you need to attend a run of upcoming classes without missing any to bring the percentage back up โ€” the more total classes remaining in the term, the faster your percentage can recover, since each new class you attend shifts the ratio in your favour.

How do I calculate my attendance percentage?

Divide the number of classes you attended by the total number of classes held, then multiply by 100.

What is the minimum attendance required in most colleges?

75% is the most common minimum requirement in Indian schools and colleges, though this varies by institution and course โ€” always check your own college's official rule.

How many classes can I afford to miss and stay above 75%?

Multiply your total classes for the term by 0.25 โ€” that is your maximum allowed absences. Subtract any classes already missed to see how many more you can safely skip.

My attendance is below 75% โ€” can it recover?

Yes, as long as there are enough classes remaining in the term โ€” attending every remaining class steadily raises your percentage, since each attended class adds to both the numerator and denominator in your favour.
